proposal to alter Traffic Regulation Orders in Moseley shopping centre

I’ve uploaded a map showing the Traffic Regulation Orders (TRO’s) of central Moseley at http://www.martinmullaney.co.uk/tro.htm

I’ve got a meeting with our Constituency Highways Engineer next week to kick start the consultation process of optimizing/changing the TRO’s in central Moseley. I would therefore like your views on the initial proposals shown below.

As you can see from the map, there are lots of different waiting period restrictions throughout the centre – this is due to national advice on TPO’s changing so frequently since the 1960’s. Also there are double yellow lines in place when the reason for them being there has long gone.

What is proposed is to unify the waiting period restrictions across the shopping centre and to remove restrictions that are no longer needed.

I would like to thank both Moseley Forum and the Moseley Society for their advice and suggestions.

I would like your opinions on the following.
1) unify all single yellow waiting restrictions so they operate Monday to Friday only. This would impact on both Oxford Road and Woodbridge Road where parking is restricted additionally on Saturdays.
2) Unify the time period for ‘peak hours’ waiting restrictions to Monday to Friday 7.45am to 9.15am and 4.30pm to 6.45pm. This will impact on two areas (a) the reduce waiting restriction on Alcester Road, south of the Salisbury Road junction (b) reduce all no loading times for all double yellow lines in front of shops.
3) Unify all single yellow line waiting restrictions immediately in front of shops to “1 hour maximum waiting time, no return for 1 hour”. This will impact on two areas – (a) St.Mary’s Row in front of Barclays Bank where there are no limits (b) Woodbridge Road in front of Lukers Bakery where no limits exist due to missing signage.
4) Remove the single yellow lines on Woodbridge Road, northside only, from in front of 37 Woodbridge Road, over the railway bridge, past Hawthorns, to the double yellow lines in front of 47 Woodbridge Road
5) Re-instate daytime parking (9.15am to 4.30pm) on Alcester Road from numbers 182 Alcester Road to Dowells Close.
6) Remove all parking restrictions, double yellow and single yellow, on the west side of Oxford Road, from the Ascot Road junction to St.Marys Row OR put single yellow lines here, but with maximum 4 hour parking. Install double yellow lines on the east side of Oxford Road from Meteor Ford garage to opposite the Ascot Road junction.
7) Replace the double yellow lines in front of O’Neils pub and former WH Smith building with single yellow lines. Put a white bar on the road in front of the entrance of Moseley Private Park.
8) Remove the morning peak time waiting restrictions on the single yellow lines on the eastside of Alcester Road. Remove the evening peak time waiting restrictions on the single yellow lines on the westside of Alcester Road.
